We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer in the Electrical Engineering Department located in Poway, CA.

Duties & Responsibilities

Under general supervision with limited review, this position supports the design and development of advanced electrical components, equipment and systems for unmanned air vehicles. Assignments are normally accompanied by general instructions and suggestions, outlining possible approaches, sources or information.

  • Responsible for analog, digital and power conversion circuit design with appropriate analysis and/or CAD modeling.

  • Responsible for control schemes, analog, digital or software, magnetic and electric machine design and/or specification, EMI design, thermal analysis and packaging.

  • Documentation necessary to support production (i.e. test procedures, records, bill of materials, ICD’s, SCD’s, ECO’s and production support) and training.

  • Required to provide field support as needed.

Job Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution; and six plus years of design experience with a Bachelors or four plus years with a Masters or two plus years with a PhD.

  • Must have a complete understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.

  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.

  • Must have excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one engineering area; and, lead a team of less experienced professional employees on semi-routine tasks. Able to work extended hours as required.

  • All applicants must be current US Citizens for this position and must be able to obtain a DoD security clearance.
