Summary/Scope:

The Protein Homeostasis Thematic Center of Excellence (PH TCoE) at Celgene is one of the fundamental research and early development engines delivering therapeutics to patients. As a thematic center, the PH TCoE is agnostic to therapeutic modality or disease area. The group integrates discovery research through translational and early clinical development and focuses on numerous aspects of protein homeostasis including; the ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS), protein translation, and RNA processing and stability. This thematic focus allows the group to capitalize on the cutting edge science that underpins the action of the company’s most advanced drugs. Not being bound by disease area or therapeutic modality creates a very dynamic, exciting and creative environment that exploits excellent science in biology, biochemistry, structural biology, computational biology and translational development. The Systems Proteomics group uses an iterative cycle of proteomics, systems biology and cellular biology/biochemistry to help the PH TCoE identify disease relevant therapeutic targets, differentiate compounds and uncover compound MoA. We are seeking a post-doctoral candidate to explore the biochemical and kinetic details of IMiD drug directed protein ubiquitination, localization and degradation. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with discovery project teams and scientists across the PH TCoE functional areas, and to gain expertise in drug discovery. After completion of this post-doctoral training, the candidate will be prepared to integrate into a biotech/pharma research environment.

Qualifications

Prerequisites:

  • Ph.D. in a scientific discipline with at least 3 years of laboratory experience

Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • Extensive experience with routine biochemistry and molecular/cellular biology tools

  • Hands on experience in protein biochemistry/biophysics

  • Knowledge of high resolution protein imaging via fluorescence or proteomics is preferred

  • Research training in the field of ubiquitin-mediated protein degradation is a big plus

  • Highly motivated and strong team player with a high degree of independence

  • Innovative and critical thinking

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
