Experience with mid-level Government programs execution (development and production) of communications products/programs
Overall responsibility for program execution through leadership, program scheduling, financial reporting and budgeting, managing contract deliverables while identifying and mitigating risks, and interfacing with production, supply chain and program customers.
Serve as a key interface to the customer(s) representing the entire program team and ViaSat as a whole.
Apply a collaborative/consultative working and leadership style, relying on common sense and personal competence for persuasion and consensus building.
Display proactive and flexible project-oriented dedication, with ability to both delegate to engineering PMs leads as well as drive down into detail, assisting in areas of weakness.
Work with business area management in assessing market/product offerings and opportunities, representing overarching PM viewpoint of the ability of the business area to execute to derived cost/schedule market requirements. Participate in go/no management decisions regarding new products/projects and develop technical and cost proposals for new offerings.
As a Program Manager for our Government Systems Division, you will utilize your leadership, communication and negotiation skills along with your deep understanding of contracts to manage program cost, schedule and performance while mitigating risk. Not only will you develop customer relationships for your assigned programs, you will coordinate with supply management and operations for the identification and management of subcontractors and critical suppliers. Utilizing your experience developing complex technical systems, you will effectively manage the customer’s expectations within the scope of the contract and understand their concerns while leading technical activities and staff to address development and production transition challenges.
5+ years’ program management or technical leadership experience
Experience in leading complex design and development programs that include hardware and software development and integration
Customer-facing program management and program capture experience
Track record of leadership, problem solving, performing analysis and making trade decisions, utilizing formal program management techniques and achieving program and business goals
Ability to manage proposal efforts develop technical and cost proposals
Understanding of Profit/Loss Concepts
Understanding of contract types and risk management practices
US Government position. US Citizenship required.
Ability to travel up to 30%
BA/BS degree in Engineering (EE, CE, CS)
Experience with satellite modem or other wireless communications systems
Experience as a prime government contractor technology developer or system integrator of products/programs for Government customers
Track record of leading and managing a team spread over diverse geographical locations
Experience with EVMS and related government reporting
Current Active Secret Clearance
