Strategic Offer Management Director
Teradata is seeking a passionate, customer-focused Director to lead Strategic Offering Management activities for Data Platform. The Director will be responsible for overall offering strategy formulation, including: taking a lead role in formulating go-to-market strategy, identifying target customers, and helping position the offering in the marketplace, while ensuring it is closely aligned to customer’s existing and future needs. Additionally, this role will be responsible for managing the entire product lifecycle from strategic planning to tactical activities, such as fine tuning offering capabilities.
The SOM Director is responsible for creating a high performance centralized Strategic Offering Management team for Data Platform. The Director will bring significant market insight, customer perspective and offering expertise. Working closely with the Vice President and team of Product Managers, he/she will shape the organizational design of the offering team, set and manage deliverables and drive offering enhancements, features and functionality. It is essential to the SOM Director role that he/she be able to understand customer’s business requirements and partner with the appropriate Engineering and Marketing teams to deliver said requirements.
As a leader with their finger on the pulse of industry trends and products currently available, the SOM Director is expected to contribute significantly to Teradata’s product roadmap via insight from first-hand field knowledge and partnering with Teradata’s current and future customers. The ability to speak at public events as one of Teradata’s thought leaders is a key part of this.
Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of key products and services within the Strategic Offering Management for Data Platform, helping shape the vision of the portfolio
Support Vice President to formulate offering business strategy and offering targets
Lead a team of Product Managers to create offering roadmaps and go-to-market plans, while also manage the entire offering life cycle
Collaborate with Engineering, Research, Sales, Professional Services, Marketing and other relevant functions to drive products and services through throughout the lifecycle, from ideation to extinction
Act as a Thoughts Leader for customers, prospects and across the organization in leading edge technologies and methodologies for Data Platform
Ensure customer environments, pain points, and needs are addressed for existing and future products
Drive an effective communications plan to ensure development teams are aware and aligned with strategy, priorities and execution plans
Develop and maintain appropriate metrics to monitor and assess business performance
Collaborate and influence cross-functionally to align product go-to-market plans with Sales and Marketing teams
Work closely with the Marketing team to ensure value propositions are captured in outbound marketing plans / campaigns
Develop, align and execute upon industry leading best practices for product management
Help build an agile Operational Planning and Management System to allow the business to continuously assess and manage investments and resources to achieve strategic objectives
Master's degree or equivalent practical experience
7 years of relevant professional experience
5 years’ experience in a role involving product management, strategy or operations
3 years’ experience leading and developing teams
Demonstrated thoughts leadership in the data & analytics industry
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Experience defining business requirements and managing projects cross-functionally such as across marketing, software development, testing, etc.
Demonstrated business acumen with experience in market insight, segmentation, value proposition development, etc.
Keen sense of competitive markets and technologies
Enjoys managing multiple projects simultaneously and balancing priorities
Experience in planning, forecast development, and budgeting both in operating and long range strategic planning is preferred
An inspirational leader successfully leading teams in rapidly changing, complex environments and driving influence
Excellent written and oral communication skills and a track record of producing results in a team environment
Experience working with Big Data systems (i.e. Teradata, Redshift, BigQuery, or other industry-relevant platforms)
Cloud domain expertise, and proficiency with JIRA a plus
Ability to influence business teams as well as Engineering teams
Proven success in leading complex, international projects
