The San Diego Office of WSP is currently looking for an intern to support the Geotechnical & Tunneling Technical Excellence Center (TEC) Group. This is an excellent opportunity for students currently enrolled in an engineering program to gain real-world, hands-on experience by working with an industry leading geotechnical and tunneling team on a variety of challenging and diverse transit projects. Work assignments would include, but not be limited to, assisting with geotechnical design aspects of roadways/railways, foundation and retaining wall design, construction observations, and assistance in the preparation of geotechnical investigation/design reports and memorandums. Interns will be able to develop technical and communication skills under the supervision and guidance of highly experienced geotechnical professionals.

We are currently seeking an exceptional candidate for an GEOTECHNICAL AND TUNNELING INTERN for our San Diego office from May to September 2018. This opportunity is available for a qualified college student in good standing working towards a DEGREE in CIVIL ENGINEERING within an accredited program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist more experienced geotechnical engineers in broader engineering activities
Perform routine engineering functions
Assist in geotechnical related design and analysis
Assist with field work, including geotechnical related observations during construction
Using various types of analyses and design software
CURRENT standing as a Junior/ Senior student actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering (or related) Undergraduate or Graduate Program. Students currently enrolled in an MS program preferred.
Must be motivated and have a strong desire to learn engineering skills related to geotechnical engineering.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Must have completed basic foundational courses including: Introduction to Engineering, AutoCAD, Engineering Drafting course, and Mechanics/Statics/Dynamics.
The selected candidate must have the ability and authorization to work in the United States immediately.
