Metron, Inc. Marine Systems Test Engineer in San Diego, California

Metron’s OASIS division is seeking a talented and enthusiastic engineer with software testing experience for marine related R&D projects. At Metron, we value innovative research experience, inquisitiveness and insight.

The successful candidate will coordinate testing schedules with software developers, engineers, marine craft personnel, and Government decision makers; developing and execute test plans that exercise software controlling underwater vehicles. Some of these tests involve hands-on support at sea on barges and/or rigid hull inflatable boats (RHIB). The successful candidate will develop and execute detailed test plans, reconstruct events via analysis of logs, and prepare after action reports.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

  • 5+ years of experience

  • Ability to work in a team environment composed of software developers, hardware engineers, analysts, boat operators, and Government decision makers

  • Experience with marine vehicles/environments (esp. underwater) highly preferred

  • Understanding of basic electrical principles

  • Experience developing and executing standard operating procedures and test plans

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Experience developing and executing standard operating procedures highly preferred

  • Familiarity with software/hardware integration

  • Linux background and Java knowledge a plus

  • Some travel may be required

  • U.S. Citizenship and maintenance of DoD Secret security clearance required
