Sharp HealthCare Senior Specialist - Performance Improvement in San Diego, California
- Summary *
The Sr. Specialist – Performance Improvement position is part of the Sharp Community Medical Group (SCMG) Health Services Administration Department. This position leads quality improvement teams, using a variety of tools to deliver optimal clinical and operational improvements. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, facilitating physician practice leadership in making operational decisions, prioritizing project plans and implementing processes to increase performance and efficiencies.
The role of the Performance Improvement Specialist is to coordinate and lead key quality improvement (QI) activities and projects working collaboratively with SCMG physicians, their office staff and the entire Sharp Community Medical Group multidisciplinary team. This role facilitates the evaluation of processes, data, systems and culture , the compilation and analysis of data, the development of improvement teams, the design and collection of metrics, and the facilitation of improvement efforts aligned with ongoing strategic initiatives. The individual in this position will teach process improvement tools and techniques and promote utilization of best practice while maintaining a high degree of independence, flexibility, initiative and commitment.
The successful candidate is an innovative leader with exceptional interpersonal skills, superior writing, strategic planning, project management, and professional judgment skills. He/she is an individual who takes initiative and develops trust and confidence with internal and external constituencies. This individual will possess the ability to work independently and will design, implement, manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously.
The Health Services Administration Department supports clinical operations programs including but not limited to Quality and Compliance, Population Health, Utilization Management, Case Management and Pharmacy.

Required Skills and Qualifications *
Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience
Minimum of five (5) years health care experience
Experience working with a physician practice
Evidence of previous successful application and implementation of quality improvement methodologies
Ability to travel between Sharp facilities and SCMG provider offices; must provide own transportation
Completed course work in quality improvement and/or facilitation skills
Preferred Skills and Qualifications *
Current unencumbered California LVN or RN license or Medical Assistant certificate
