Utility Design Engineer
The Telecommunications Division delivers telecommunication infrastructure solutions to utilities, local and state government agencies and the commercial wireless industry. Utility design engineer responsible for assisting with reviewing transmission or distribution circuit protection physical design. Experience required in development of schematic and wiring diagrams for CB’s, XFMRs, communication processors, relays, and other IEDs.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include coordinating with various internal and external groups on projects to ensure timely submission of deliverables and assignment of sites to projects.
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 1 year related work experience All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of field experience in transmission and distribution protective relaying systems, including the physical design and implementation of relays and communication processor equipment and AC/DC station service systems.
Basic experience required in substation design in distribution & transmission level voltages 12kV and above with a strong understanding of applicable industry codes and standard design practices.
Basic experience producing and reviewing construction documents for the physical and/or electrical aspects of substation projects including AC and DC station service systems, grounding, telecommunication, and protective relaying equipment.
Basic experience with the physical design and implementation of SEL 311L, 351, 321, 411L, 421, 487E, GE L90, and other relays. Experience with the physical design and implementation of SEL 2032, 3530, 3610, 2730M, and other communication processor equipment is
Applicant must be familiar with using Microsoft Office software, database systems, AutoCAD, and PDF editing software.
The applicant must have the ability to work in a team environment to meet schedule deadlines and budget targets. Also, attention to detail with good communication, skills both written and verbal, is required.
