Position Purpose:

Keeping a PetCoach Store thriving requires a unique set of leadership skills. As we reinvent the retail experience in our store's pet friendly, services focused environment, you must be highly motivated and forward thinking as you learn from each new challenge. You must build and inspire a high-performing team of pet loving coaches who are obsessed with accompanying pet parents on their journey as they learn, shop, and discover the wide array of services we provide. Most importantly, you share the PetCoach mission and values with all partners and guests.

Essential Job Functions:

As the Head Coach, you will lead a team of dynamic PetCoaches that will focus on exceeding our pet parents' needs with every interaction with the brand. You will accomplish this by the excelling at the following:

  • Build a culture where the partners come first, always.

  • Be a catalyst in designing and building the team, the talent, the behaviors, the culture and the day to day operating routines that create a highly engaging differentiated experience for customers and an awesome place for people to work.

  • Assist with the creation of job roles and job descriptions for store team.

  • Provide insight and feedback as well as assist with creating how to rate performance, one on one coaching sessions, incentive pay for team etc.

  • Ability to work cross functionally with support teams as needed (IT, Finance, Construction, HR, Training, etc.)

  • Exhibit exceptional communication skills with the ability to communicate to all levels including senior leadership.

  • Recruit and hire a dynamic team of coaches that will guide pet parents to fulfill their unique needs.

  • Manage daily schedules, time off and payroll for your team

  • Train and mentor your team, and provide ongoing and consistent coaching and development

  • Seamlessly integrate all aspects of our pet services into one customized plan for pets and their parents.

  • Break down the barriers around channel shopping and creating a retail experience without boundaries or complexities.

  • Welcoming new pet parents to our company and ensuring they become members in our community.

  • Run a smart and responsible business that exceeds both the guests and the company's expectations.

  • Independently prioritize and accomplish multiple leadership tasks within established timeframes by effectively planning and managing workload, delegating work and supervising, monitoring and directing department level leaders and other partners.

  • Exercise sound business and personnel leadership skills and the ability to exercise appropriate discretion.

  • Meet and manage store profitability projections and shrink budgets.

  • Possess a high level of interest in animal welfare.

  • Move merchandise up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

The majority of job duties are conducted indoors, although occasional merchandise stocking, guest carry-outs, and bank deposits will be required. Because this position requires bending, kneeling, moving merchandise (up to 50 pounds, as necessary) and standing for long periods of time,. A limited amount of travel will be required.


Education and Experience:

In addition to a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED), an applicant must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the areas of mathematics, basic accounting relationships, analysis and problem-solving skills. Excellence in communication and computer skills are also required. Some college level business/management courses preferred.

One or more years of management experience or the equivalent is required, while previous retail management and leadership experience is preferred. A working knowledge of general business practices is highly desirable, as are strong organizational skills. A qualified applicant will possess an aptitude for demonstrating basic sales techniques and the ability to instruct others in their application. In addition to having a professional appearance and demeanor, the applicant must also demonstrate a keen and genuine interest in all kinds of animals.
